The Minnesota Department of Health was investigating reports of a diarrheal illness caused by the parasite Cryptosporidium among individuals who visited Great Wolf Lodge in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Symptoms of cryptosporidiosis usually include watery diarrhea, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and a low-grade fever. People typically become ill about a week after exposure, but this period can range from 2-14 days. Fortunately, most people recover completely from their diarrhea in 1-2 weeks without any specific treatment. If you are experiencing these symptoms and have any concerns, please contact your health care provider.

Please remember that because Cryptosporidium can be spread so easily through water, people who have symptoms of cryptosporidiosis should not go swimming or be bathed with others while they have diarrhea and for 2 weeks following the resolution of symptoms.
